About the Project
WinWhen helps people connect through the events they care about — from a kid's football match to a neighborhood meetup. We designed the full app experience: a featured-events feed, event creation, RSVP states, group and individual chat, personal profiles, and real-time notifications, all in a crisp monochrome design language.
The Challenge
Event apps fail when feeds feel empty or chats feel disconnected from the events themselves. WinWhen needed event discovery, attendance, and conversation to feel like one continuous flow — and the UI had to stay calm despite dense, real-time content.
The Solution
We anchored the app on a card-based events feed with clear going / not-interested states, attached group chats directly to events so conversation has context, and designed a restrained grayscale system that lets user photos provide the color. Profiles carry attendance history to build community trust.
The Result
Attaching chat to events transformed engagement — 30-day retention rose 74% against the prototype baseline. Users created 12,000+ events in the first season, and the design system scaled cleanly to every new feature.
